We kicked off this trip by checking another National Park off our list with a stop at Indiana Dunes National Park.
From there, we continued on to Chicago, where we officially picked up Route 66. After snapping a quick photo to commemorate the moment, we headed west toward Joliet.
Before checking into our hotel, we made a stop for an early dinner at the iconic White Fence Farm in Romeoville, Illinois. The fried chicken absolutely lived up to its reputation—I can honestly say it was some of the best chicken we’ve ever had!
After dinner, we found a room for the night in Joliet. Tomorrow morning, we’ll spend some time exploring a few local sights before continuing our trek westward.
