We started the morning in Gallup, NM. We grabbed some coffee and immediately headed towards the Petrified Forest National Park. We have stopped here before but it’s one of my absolutely favorite National Parks, so we are making the stop again.

It’s so amazing to me that wood, over millions of years, petrified to now look like glass, quartz, and rocks; and it is now just as hard as rocks. It’s gorgeous and truly blows my mind. We drove all the way through the park, which takes about 45 minutes, but I loved every minute of it!

Leaving there we drove through the Holbrook, Route 66 shield, and headed into Winslow, AZ.

So we could be “standin’ on the corner in Winslow, Arizona….”

After that, we ended up having to take a detour through a Navajo reservation, and accidentally saw Coconino National Forest. The landscape was beautiful, but we did drive for roughly an hour with zero cell service and zero idea of where we were, or where we were going.

We finally made our way into Williams and had a late lunch at a place we have visited before. This place has the BEST PIE IN THE WORLD! So, where is this place? We are talking about Pine Country Inn. They make all of their pies in house and they are basically the size of your head! We each grabbed a club sandwich but saved room for pie – lemon meringue for me, and coconut cream for Jay. We both give it a 10/10⭐️.
Before leaving Williams, we hopped across the street to visit the Williams Visitor Center and see Smokey the Bear. Did you know Smokey was a real bear? 🧸

We made a quick stop in Seligman at Roadkill Cafe, where yes, they really will grill it, if you kill it.

After a long day, we are ready for bed and are spending the night in Kingman, AZ.
Tomorrow we are heading to the Sphere!
